Grok Build permission policy

Draft TOML rules and review an approximate match. Permission rules and the sandbox are separate controls.

Warning: permission_mode set in a project config is ignored; project rules still apply. Permissions documentation.

Editable rules

Actions: allow, ask, deny. Tool “any” matches every tool. Patterns use simple wildcards: * matches any characters and ** can match path segments. A pattern is optional and limited to 120 characters.

Generated policy

Review the fragment and test its rules in a throwaway repository before relying on it.

TOML

Compact allow rules

Compact rules list allow entries only; keep ask and deny decisions in the TOML fragment. Skills, plugins and marketplaces documentation.

Sources: Permissions · Settings reference: [permission].

Rule tester and TOML check

Test the builder rules or paste the documented TOML subset or Claude-Code-style compact rules.

The checker reports only the documented subset used by this generator.
Compact rules are interpreted as allow rules for this approximate tester.

Rules decide what the agent may do. They are not a sandbox and don't control what the client itself sends. Keep secrets out of tracked files and git history. Read the sandbox documentation.

Approximate matching only: permissions documentation · [permission] settings reference · skills, plugins and marketplaces.

Grok Bot skill brief

Turn a recurring job into an editable outline. Replace or remove details that do not fit your workflow.

Keep consequential external actions behind a clear review step.

Generated brief

The output is a draft for you to review and adapt.

Routine & Usage Audit

This worksheet does not connect to your account or read actual usage. It checks only the patterns you describe. See your real usage in your Grok Bot dashboard; the Grok Bot FAQ describes usage views.

Use generic labels; do not enter secrets, customer data, or private names. Text labels stay in this tab and are never included in a share link or stored. Share links contain only audit enums and checkboxes.

Describe routine patterns

This is a checklist, not an account measurement. Priority labels are Bot Bench heuristics, not vendor categories.

Flag counts by pattern

Counts are flags from this checklist, not usage estimates.

    Trim plan

A read-only Markdown plan with reasons, suggested trims, and links.

    Template Safety Checker

Bot Bench heuristic checklist. It checks only the text you paste here. It does not run the template or download anything.

Paste text only. Nothing leaves this page, and it isn’t saved or put in the URL.

    Paste template text

Paste a template’s description, skills, and routines as text, then review each flag before you install or share it.

0 characters Checks cover the first 50,000 characters.

Limit message: this text is longer than 50,000 characters. The check covers only the first 50,000 characters.

Severity is our heuristic. Read the official guidance: Templates for Grok Bot ↗ · Last verified 1 Nov 2026

    Checker results

Severity is shown as text. This is a checklist, not a guarantee.

Paste template text and choose Check to review it.

    Research-backed field guide

Start with the product you actually have.

Grok Bot and Grok Build have different workflows and controls. These notes point to source material you can check.

    Research method & limits

Prepared from linked SpaceXAI/xAI and Cursor documentation checked on 29 October 2026. Product documentation changes; check the source pages before making a decision. This independent guide is educational, not legal, security, procurement, or compliance advice. Where a detail is unclear, verify with the vendor rather than assuming a feature or attestation exists.
